Fantastic catch-up with Ian Ziering for the latest Sharknado and the season preview of Australian Survivor 2 with Jonathan LaPaglia.
Wonderful chance for me to speak to such a fantastic actor. Thank you, Netflix Australia!
What a pleasure to speak to Kevin Dickson about his first novel for his 'home' audience! Of course, now his second one has been published, too.
No, it really doesn't matter what country I'm in to watch—and write about—Survivor. Also, I chat with the always delightful Dami Im about her latest music.
Very excited to speak to fantastic actor.
In a showdown between two soulful voices on July 3, 2017, Team Delta's Judah Kelly earned more votes than Team Boy George's Hoseah Partsch and was crowned the season 6 champ of 'The Voice Australia.' I caught up with the winner the next day, and my interview can be read here.
Here are my previews on two geeky things on behalf of Deb's "What to Watch" section.
I first spoke to Darren McMullen when I was at People and he was in the US hosting Love In the Wild for NBC. Now I am the one in Sydney and he is the one living in LA when I speak to him about Australian series Behave Yourself on Channel 7. Small world, right? More of our chat is online here. Following his chat is one with Cleverman actor Rob Collins, whose humour is deliciously dry. Then, in Hot Topics, Australia has been following the off-screen love life of radio personality Sam Frost, the country's first Bachelorette. We updated her story this week, which was linked to by our fellow Pacific Mags weekly New Idea.
On the eve of watching the last episode of American Gods's first season, I had a chance to talk to the actor who plays Shadow Moon, Ricky Whittle. He did not disappoint. To read the interview, click here. I've excerpted some of it in the captions below the photos below.
On becoming Shadow Moon, the central figure of Neil Gaiman's 2001 novel American Gods, Whittle says, "It's not just picking up any fictional character. it's almost like doing a biography now. You know, I'm Daniel Day-Lewising the heck out of it because he's a real person to so many fans." Photo courtesy of Amazon Prime Video.
Whittle says he and Ian McShane (left, as Mr Wednesday) engage in a bit of a pranking contest on the set of the series. According to Whittle, "I think we're pretty even at the moment. I keep using his trailer when he's not in and then sending him videos of me using his toilet or lying in his bed and watching his TV. Stealing his contents of his fridge is another one of my faves as well. He gets really fancy water. There's no need! There's no need — bring normal water like the rest of us. We're in Canada, the water's fine, you don't need the fancy bottled water, but he's Ian McShane, he's fancy." Photo courtesy of Amazon Prime Video.
As a Buffy geek, I enjoyed speaking with Alyson Hannigan as she prepared for Oz Comic-Con in Melbourne (July 1-2). She also joked how she was a little disappointed I was an American without an Australian accent interviewing her and how I should still try to end the call with a 'G'day,' which I did! We had a good laugh. More of our chat ran online, which you can read here.
After speaking to Family Law star Fiona Choi for our AACTA Awards preview last year, I got to meet her on the red carpet and she was fantastic. It's a pleasure to follow up with her for this season 2 piece. Here she is along with some other items in Back Chat for the July 3 issue of WHO.
Here are the events I wrote about in Hot Topics for this week (issue date July 3, 2017)
It's not really a review, but here is what I wrote about the latest Despicable Me movie, Despicable Me 3.
Living in Australia makes me see just how unique the Great White Way is to America, but I love the exuberance of it nonetheless!
People on Survivor always look so vibrant at the start of the series, right? Here is a sneak peek at season 2 of Australian Survivor. Click here to read more.

After attending the Australian premiere of The Mummy at Sydney's State Theatre, I wrote up our listing item about the film, then interviewed Sofia Boutella. Here are all three components in reverse order. Also, to read more from Sofia, click on the link to the online story here.
It's not really a review, but I got to do the write-up of Wonder Woman for the release of the film in Australia.
Always a good thing to get in a Soundtrack of My Life feature!
